Oyo School Abduction : Parade, prosecute kidnappers -Senator Ningi tells FG

Senator Abdul Ningi, representing Bauchi Central  has called on the Federal Government and security agencies to swiftly prosecute and publicly parade suspects arrested in connection with the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.

Ningi  who was speaking during plenary at the Senate on Wednesday, warned that any delay in prosecuting the suspects could undermine public confidence in the justice system.

He said those responsible for the crime should be made to face the full weight of the law to serve as a deterrent to others.

“What is important going forward now is to take a cue. Now we have people arrested, they must be paraded, prosecuted and let the law take its full course,” he said.

“Delayed prosecution will create another impression that something is wrong. I therefore call on the security agency to prosecute, parade, and use them as an example.”

Some gunmen had kidnapped pupils and teachers from Baptist Nursery and Primary School, LA Primary School and Community Grammar School in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo state.

The kidnap victims were rescued after 56 days in captivity before they were rescued on Friday by a joint team of security operatives.
