PDP hit by fresh loss as Wike ally, Daniel Orbih dies at 64

The Peoples Democratic Party has been hit by hard blow following the death of one of its chieftains, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, who died at the age of 64.

The Orbih family announced his passing in a statement issued on Monday, describing the news as a painful loss.

The statement, signed by Francis Udukhomoi Orbih on behalf of the family, said his death was received with “profound sadness and a heavy heart,” while expressing submission to the will of God.

Orbih, a prominent figure within the PDP and an ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, reportedly died on August 31, 2026.

Orbih, who was born on October 27, 1961, reportedly died on Monday, August 31, 2026, barely two months before his 65th birthday.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs Florence Orbih, and his two children, Ms Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr Mildred Omonemi Orbih.

The late politician is also survived by his brothers, sisters and other members of his extended family.

As the family begins mourning his death, it appealed to friends, relatives and well-wishers to remember them in their prayers.

“At this difficult time, we ask family members, friends and well-wishers to remember the entire family in their prayers as we mourn this painful loss,” the statement said.

The family added that details of Orbih’s funeral arrangements would be made public at a later date.

“Further details, including funeral arrangements, would be announced in due course.”

Chief Orbih’s death marks another loss for the PDP, where he was regarded as a prominent political figure and maintained close ties with Wike.
