FG begins distribution of Renewed Hope farm input support programme

Vice President Kashim Shettima has flagged of the distribution of farm inputs under the Renewed Hope Farm Input Support Programme, a major initiative aimed at strengthening food security and boosting agricultural productivity across Nigeria.

The programme, driven by the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF), forms a key part of the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The initiative aims to support 50,000 smallholder farmers across the country.

Farmers will benefit from a 75% subsidy on fertiliser, with a focus on maize, rice, cassava, and soybeans.

The programme centres on the distribution of subsidised NPK fertiliser, which is locally produced, traceable, and clearly marked “Not For Sale” to prevent diversion.

Each geopolitical zone will benefit 20,160 smallholder farmers, with a total of 80,640 bags of fertiliser distributed (equivalent to four bags per farmer).

Vice President Kashim Shettima, represented by the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi stated that the programme rollout under the auspices of NADF emphasises timely delivery of appropriate inputs, collaboration with state governments, and integration with broader value-chain development.

The initiative enjoys the support of indigenous fertiliser producers, agro-processors, and marketers.
